At Monday’s Clewiston City of Commission Meeting, U.S. Sugar Community Relations Manager Jennifer Black presented a $50,000 check to assist the city with the construction of a new playground for community children and the Trinidad neighborhood in Clewiston. The support comes as part of a multi-year commitment from U.S. Sugar to help improve area parks and recreation in and around the Clewiston community.
“We are so proud to support parks and recreation in ‘America’s Sweetest Town,’ providing area children with another safe and modern place to play,” said Black. “In addition to growing sugarcane, citrus and fresh produce, U.S. Sugar also has an interest in helping our community’s children grow up in a nurturing and fun environment.”
The check was presented to Mayor Mali Gardner and fellow Clewiston City Commissioners Michael Atkinson, Kristine Petersen, Melanie McGhee, and Interim City Manager Shari Howell.
