U.S. Sugar is actively engaged in community outreach to strengthen and support our employees and our neighbors. Our employees contribute thousands of volunteer hours annually to civic, social and educational causes, and U.S. Sugar donates generously to local events, organizations, schools, sports teams and social programs. Our charitable work makes a significant difference in the lives of those around us.
U.S. Sugar is proud to support youth athletics the community. We sponsor Little League teams, donate equipment and uniforms to area schools and take part in walks to help children with serious medical conditions. Our employees have coached soccer, baseball and softball teams. Giving back to the community is part of our history and our culture.
Concern for the health and well-being of our employees and neighbors drives our support for programs that nurture a healthy, active lifestyle. The programs we support get people moving in a healthy direction by encouraging them to make better food choices, maintain a healthy weight, quit smoking and become more physically active. Our involvement in health fairs, golf tournaments, weight loss programs and other health-related activities is designed to help our community members grow healthy together.
U.S. Sugar donates generously to local social programs and schools. We have sponsored summer reading programs, donated agricultural equipment for a school mechanics program and funded student scholarships. Our annual shoe drive has resulted in more than 1,000 pairs of new shoes to local children through the Laces of Love program. Making a difference in the lives of people around us is an important part of what we do and who we are.
U.S. Sugar partners with Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties to build new homes for local families. We believe strongly that improving communities happens one house at a time and one family at a time, and we stand proudly with all of our employees who volunteer their time to make the homes a reality.
