WADE APPOINTED TO SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT GOVERNING BOARD

TALLAHASSEE, FL — March 2, 2005 — Malcolm Wade, senior vice president, sugar operations, has been appointed by Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to a four-year term on the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District. His appointment will be confirmed by the Florida Senate this spring. The District, which covers 16 South Florida counties, manages the $8 billion Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. In addition, it has responsibility for managing water and natural resources in the area.

Wade will occupy the position on the board traditionally held by someone in the rural and agricultural areas of the District.

His appointment is the culmination of more than 20 years of helping manage U.S. Sugar’s environmental responsibilities and his volunteer assignments on gubernatorial and Water Management District commissions and task forces involving water and environmental resource management.

Wade is widely known and respected as a consensus builder who has worked with many diverse groups seeking solutions to South Florida’s unique environmental challenges.
