Senior Vice President and CFO

Gerard A. Bernard joined the Company as Senior Vice President & CFO in May 2003. Bernard had been vice president of finance and CFO of the Amylum Group in Aalst, Belgium. Amylum was a subsidiary of Tate & Lyle PLC, a London-based provider of sugar, starches, sweeteners, ethanol and sucralose.

Prior to moving to Europe, Bernard was the Director of Finance for Tate & Lyle North America (TLNA) in Decatur, Illinois. TLNA included A.E. Staley Manufacturing, Domino Sugar, Western Sugar, PM Ag Products and Redpath Sugar in Canada. In total, Bernard was with Tate & Lyle and Staley for over eighteen years.

His areas of responsibility at U.S. Sugar include accounting, finance, tax, IT, risk management and employee benefits.

Bernard received his B.S. in Accounting from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and his MBA from the University of Illinois at Springfield. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Society of CPAs.

Bernard and his wife Kathie live in Wellington, Florida and have three sons, Tony, Mike and Chris.
